“London, Glasgow… Sydney? – al Qaeda and the terror threat in 2007 and beyond”
Hagai Segal - Analyst & Consultant on Middle-Eastern Affairs & Terrorism

With the UK on critical alert after failed car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow Airport at the weekend, security has been stepped up with extra police patrols and vehicle searches taking place at airports and transport hubs. In a Commons statement, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said the country would not be "intimidated" by "those who wish to destroy our way of life and our freedoms“, but no-one can deny the adverse effect terrorism has on our lives.

Hagai Segal is a UK based lecturer, consultant, columnist and keynote speaker specialising in geo-strategic and economic risk, the Middle East and modern terrorism. Hagai has a long and impressive track record as a consultant, analyst and advisor to numerous banks, finance/investment houses, fund managers, international corporations, business groups and politicians. He specialises in analysis of geo-strategic and economic risk factors – specifically developments in terrorism, the Middle-East and Asia, and developments in US Foreign Policy - and how these factors affect key economic fundamentals, oil and gas price and security, and the global economy.

In his academic role, Hagai lectures in Near and Middle-Eastern Politics at New York University in London, has previously taught at the University of London, and guest lectures at Universities from the USA to Australia. A regular guest on national and international television channels (including CNN, the BBC, Sky News and CNBC), and numerous national and international radio stations, Hagai also writes for a number of newspapers and publications around the world, including a regular column for the South China Morning Post (Hong Kong).
